Keep in touch with the Political Science Department
Send updates about your current profession, contact information (email, mailing address), and news in your life via email to blevinse@cofc.edu and stay connected with the department. We will be sending out our first electronic alumni newsletter in August. If you have any photos or information you would like to contribute to the website or newsletter please forward those to us as well.
Provide Internship Opportunities
Alumni of the political science program can provide a valuable network of diverse internship opportunities for current students. If your organization or business is interested in learning more about hosting an intern or already has available internships, please contact us. In addition, if you know of other internship opportunities and/or are willing to provide an introduction to your contacts, please share these with us as well.
Volunteer as a Guest Speaker
To provide students with greater insight into careers and special topics, the political science department hosts career panel discussions and alumni guest speaker presentations. If interested in volunteering as a guest speaker, please contact us.

Volunteer as a Career mentor
Students often have questions about certain careers and are interested in ideas on how to go about finding their first job. If you would like to volunteer as a career mentor, please get in touch with us or join the C of C Alumni Career Mentor Network online. The information and support you can provide is invaluable to our current students!
Make a Donation
The Political Science Fund supports activities such as:
- Special Learning Opportunities for Students like attending professional conferences or participating in simulations such as the Model Organization States or Model African Union in Washington D. C.
- Student Awards: for example, Pi Sigma Alpha Best Paper awards.
- Special Events : to include special lectures, roundtables, and faculty sessions.
- Occasional research support,: especially research that focuses on teaching or involves collaboration between faculty and students.
The William V. Moore Memorial Fund in Political Science was established in memory of Professor Bill Moore and his 37 year career at the College of Charleston. It supports:
Professor William Moore
(1944 - 2009)
- Contributions to the William V. Moore Scholarship Fund and/or direct awards to students who meet the scholarship criteria associated with the fund. (The Scholarship Fund will be established by a $25,000 contribution from William Moore's estate.)
- Guests, speakers, roundtables, workshops etc. that support an intellectually and politically engaged student body and faculty and/or facilitate improved political communication through mass media. .
- Course development assistance for faculty linking research and pedagogy.

Moore Memorial Fund in Political Science (R531), select “Other” in the designation section and indicate you want to contribute to the Political Science Fund (R307) OR the William V. Moore Memorial Fund in Political Science (R531) in the Comments section.

Alumni Guest Speakers
Alumni Panel: "What Can I do with a Political Science Major?"
On February 28, 2008 a panel of political science alumni talked about their current jobs, how they got them, how political science prepared them for work and offered advice to current students. Participating in the panel were: Trey Eppes (2005), Project Manager for Corporate Developmint, Ana Emelianoff (2007), Annexation Coordinator/Planner for the City of Charleston, and Anthony J. King (2006), North Charleston Police Officer.
Panel discussion: "Is graduate school the next step for me?"
February 21, 2007, a panel of students currently enrolled in local graduate programs, featuring Brian Grabatin, Julia Carter, and Jessie Shuler from the MES program; John McCay from the MPA program, and Tyler Brown* and Les Blankenship* from the Charleston School of Law talked about their experiences with the graduate programs, their preparation for graduate school, and took questions from current students in attendance. 2005 Alumni Panel, "Careers in Washington, DC"
On Friday, November 11, 2005 Anne Ruchman (Senator Chris Dodd); Dabney Hegg (Senate Commerce Committee); Tara Nelson (Republican Governors Association); Angela Kouters (lobbyist); Will Glasscock (House staffer); Matt Lattanze (Dept of Homeland Security) provided students an opportunity to ask questions about working in D.C. Students and alumni enjoyed a pizza lunch and networking happy hour event.
Guest speakers provide insight into combining interest in law and politics.
